As you might already be aware I did not finish The Handmaid’s Tale, I might write a blog post about it. My High School AP English teacher, now friend, recommended Vox. I trust her, I mean obviously, she was one of the people that helped shape my love for reading and writing. I ordered it right away, and I left it on my TBR. I was waiting until I finished THT. So after I decided to not finish THT, I started reading Vox. I finished it in a day.
It was GOOD. Honestly it was everything I was expecting THT to be and more. This is not a comparison post between the two books. Just know they are similar in the sense that women are silenced. Other than that it’s different. The main characters are different. That is all I will say. I don’t want the comparison to take away from Vox.

The book is about a new United States where women are silenced. Feminism got so bad they, men, put a 100 word a day cap for women. Women are to be home keepers, raise children, and listen to their husbands. The main character, Jean, is faced with multiple choices throughout the book that keep you turning the page. If I was in her shoes I don’t know what I would do.

Once a plan is in place, everything can happen overnight.
The writing is easy to read. There is just the right amount of detail for you to get what’s going on. There aren’t any tangents. Everything is straight to the point. The characters are all well created. The relationships throughout the book are all tricky and tied together. There are a lot of plot twists as well. I would HIGHLY recommend this book.
